Type C (CEE 7/16) Power Plug
Also known as the Europlug.
About Type C (CEE 7/16)
Type C, formally CEE 7/16 and known almost universally as the "Europlug", is a flat ungrounded two-pin plug with 4.0 mm round pins on 19 mm centres. It is by a wide margin the most common plug worldwide outside North America — installed or compatible in nearly every European, Middle Eastern, North African, and large parts of Asian and South American sockets.
The plug is rated 2.5 A and is intentionally designed to be compatible with Type E (CEE 7/5, French), Type F (CEE 7/4, Schuko), Type J (Swiss SEV 1011), Type K (Danish Section 107-2-D1), Type L (Italian CEI 23-50), and Type N (Brazilian NBR 14136) sockets. This compatibility is why Type C is the de-facto answer to "what plug works across Europe."
For travelers, a single Type C adapter from the home plug system gets equipment connected almost everywhere on the continent. Higher-current appliances (>2.5 A) require the grounded variant of the destination country (Type E in France, Type F in Germany, etc.).
