Type E (CEE 7/5) Power Plug
Also known as the French.
About Type E (CEE 7/5)
Type E is the French CEE 7/5 standard. The socket has a male ground pin protruding 14 mm forward; the plug has two round pins and a corresponding ground hole. The pin diameter (4.8 mm) is larger than the Europlug's 4.0 mm, so a pure Type C plug fits a Type E socket with slight play.
Type E and the German Schuko Type F are intentionally cross-compatible via a hybrid plug (CEE 7/7) that has both ground clips for Type F and a ground hole for Type E. Almost all modern European appliance cords use CEE 7/7 hybrid plugs, so equipment shipped for one country usually works in both.
Type E is dominant in France, Belgium, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic (alongside Type C), and the former French colonies in West and Central Africa.
