Type L (CEI 23-50) Power Plug
Also known as the Italian.
About Type L (CEI 23-50)
Type L is the Italian CEI 23-50 standard. Three round pins are arranged in a horizontal line: live and neutral on the outside, ground in the centre. The standard exists in two current ratings: 10 A with 4 mm pins, and 16 A with 5 mm pins on wider spacing.
Italian sockets often accept both ratings (universal "schuko-Italian" hybrid sockets are now common), and additionally accept Type C Europlugs and Type F Schuko plugs. New Italian installations since 2000 typically use a universal socket that handles all four plug forms.
Type L is used in Italy and Chile. The plug is polarised (live and neutral positions are fixed).
