About Type J (SEV 1011)
Type J is the Swiss SEV 1011 standard. Three 4 mm round pins are arranged in a tight triangular pattern, with the ground pin offset so that Type F (Schuko) plugs cannot fit Swiss sockets even though the live/neutral pins look superficially similar.
Swiss sockets are deeply recessed and the plug is rated 10 A at 250 V. Type C Europlugs fit Swiss sockets directly because the Europlug's 4 mm pins and 19 mm spacing match the Type J live/neutral geometry.
Type J is used exclusively in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The cross-compatibility with Type C means most modern travelers don't need a dedicated Swiss adapter unless using a grounded appliance.
