About the Swiss (TT89) Standard
The Swiss telephone connector, formally the Reichle de-Massari TT89, was the standard analogue telephone plug used by Swisscom (previously Swiss PTT) from 1989 until widespread RJ-11 adoption. The TT89 designation refers to its 1989 introduction year.
Modern Swiss buildings use RJ-11 directly; the TT89 is now confined to older residential and commercial installations. A TT89-to-RJ-11 adapter may be required for modem or fax use in legacy buildings.
