About the Austrian Standard
The Austrian telephone connector (also called the TST connector after Telegraphen-Sprech-Trager) was the standard analogue telephone plug used in Austria from the 1970s until widespread RJ-11 adoption in the late 1990s. The plug has a distinctive flat-rectangular shape with two side contacts.
Modern Austrian installations almost always use RJ-11; the TST connector is now confined to older residential and commercial buildings that have not been re-wired. An Austrian-to-RJ-11 adapter is sometimes required for travelers using analogue equipment.
